Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields & Thoroughbred Owners of California reach agreements regarding racehorse safety.
Editor’s Note: Horse racing is beyond the scope of California Riding Magazine’s normal coverage, but the deaths of 22 racehorses at the Santa Anita Racetrack recently deeply affected all who care about horses, including much of the general public. For that reason, we’re sharing this March 16 news regarding an unprecedented agreement between major California players in the sport. While arguments exist on either side of most of the points the agreement details, we applaud what appear to be bold steps to safeguard racehorses going forward.
