Originally designed as “boutique” show, this newbie has grown up fast, hosting a CSI-5* jumping class in only its second season. Schedule-wise, it snugs right into the series of big jumping classes that are part of the Longines FEI World Cup™ jumping, along with early October’s Longines LA Masters.

The Gallop: High School Equestrian Heats Up
Young riders are happily pursuing their passion within the context of the high school experience. Equestrian sports seem to be shedding their invisibility cloak for high school age riders. Gymnasium display cases increasingly feature trophies, tri-colors and other evidence of riding accomplishments from the growing number of competitive school-tied showcases for young riders.

The world belongs to Will Simpson at the moment. Everyone is abuzz over Will’s recent accomplishments -- winning a remarkable nine Grand Prix during the eight-week HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal. Yet they pale in comparison to the entire career of this 2008 Olympic gold medalist. I had the privilege of sitting down with Will for a one-on-one interview, during which I tried to coerce him into giving up some of his secrets.

We have been promoting this elite and rare-to-have-in-our-backyard event for many months. The World Cup means the world’s best in dressage and show jumping competition, sponsored by Longines and Reem Acra, respectively, and all the entertaining trappings that go along with that. Add to that ample shopping opportunities in an entertaining destination and this is the can’t miss event of the year.
