Based at her family’s farm, Rancho Del Lago in the East Bay Area’s Briones, Jessica is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist and has ridden since she was a toddler.

Passage In Paso

New dressage show comes to Central Coast in June.

A new show, the Paso Robles Dressage Summer Classic, will be held at the beautiful Paso Robles Horsepark on June 10-12. Lisa Blaufuss of Crackerjack Productions and Ryan Torkkeli and Thomas Walker of Torkkeli and Walker Dressage are working together to bring this new, triple rated event to the Central Coast.

Horse People: The “Anke Effect”

European import Anke Herbert makes her mark on dressage in the Bay Area. Dressage test scores have been breaking new barriers for some time. First there was Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas breaking the 90% threshold at the 2009 European Championships. Last December, Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro shattered that with a 93.975% at the Olympia show in London.

USEF Developing Dressage Program experience offers ample lessons. Thanks to the USEF Developing Dressage Program and with funding assistance from the Courtney’s Quest Scholarship Award of Dressage4Kids Inc., and my parents Greg and Michele Vaughn, I was able to travel to Europe this summer with my Hanoverian stallion Donarweiss GGF to train and compete in the Under 25 divisions at Rotterdam and Hagen.

April 2015 - Horse People: Michelle Reilly - Relocation to San Diego is good for trainer, rider and the West Coast dressage scene.

Jan Dickieson has been riding for nearly 40 years and has worked with several trainers, including being one of Olympian Guenter Seidel’s first students when he came to the States. She admits that finding her way to Michelle Reilly was “pure dumb luck” but describes her three years with the up-and-coming trainer and Grand Prix rider as “the best thing that’s ever happened to my riding.”

April 2015 - Flying Changes: Christine Traurig Becomes USEF Young Horse Coach

Christine Traurig, who rode for the United States on the bronze-medal team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, takes on a new role as America’s dressage Young Horse Coach. Christine, 56 years old, of Carlsbad, succeeds Scott Hassler who retires May 1 from the position he held for almost a decade as the first U.S. Young Horse Coach.
